EMGA-Expert (EMGA-21E) specializes in ultra-trace hydrogen analysis below 1.0 ppm, equipped with a high-sensitivity TCD (thermal conductivity detector) and HORIBA’ s proprietary gas separation column for R&D and quality control of iron and steel, nonferrous metals, and ceramics.

Hydrogen is a critical element in material development and quality control, as even extremely small amounts can cause defects in materials. However, analyzers capable of detecting hydrogen at the 0.1 ppm level remain limited. The “Inert Gas Fusion – Thermal Conductivity Detection” method has proven to be a highly effective technique for such ultra-trace analysis. HORIBA has over 40 years of experience in developing analyzers based on this method, and has built proprietary technologies such as an impulse furnace for sample heating and melting, a high-sensitivity thermal conductivity detector (TCD), gas separation technology, and advanced control systems. The EMGA-Expert Hydrogen Dedicated Analyzer (EMGA-21E) is an ultra-trace hydrogen analyzer that delivers high-precision analysis along with excellent usability, simple maintenance, and low running costs.

The Gas Flow

In the measurement method of EMGA-Expert Hydrogen Analyzer, a sample placed in a crucible is subjected to electrical heating to melt and gasify the elements present in the sample. Argon (Ar), an inert gas, is used as a carrier gas to transport the gasified elements to the TCD detector which ensures exceptional analytical accuracy and stability of the contained elements and their concentration in the gas.

With its new mechanism for replacing the dust filter, the operator only needs to replace the thin filter inside the filter holder.This has also reduced the filter replacement frequency to one-fifth (replacement is required approximately every 250 uses).

■ Replacement of electrodes and reagent tube

The integrated upper electrode and reagent tube are easy to remove for easy maintenance.

Automation Options

We provide three optional automation units for streamlining your operation for the EMGA Series:
- Crucible Loader: Precise capture and positioning of crucibles by rotary mechanism. Maximum stock: 100 pcs.
- Auto Sampler: Samples and fluxes are automatically loaded (Up to 22).
- Auto Cleaner: Two rotating brushes clean the upper and lower electrodes after each measurement.
